LESSON PLAN IN MUSIC FOR GRADE V


I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to
A. Identify the different tempos of the songs listened to
B. Appreciate the mode of the song expressed
C. Classify songs according to their tempo

II. SUBJECT MATTER
Identifying the Different Tempo of the songs
Reference- Textbook in Music V, pp.117-119
Materials-Cassette recorder, sticks, tambourines, recorded songs, activity sheets
Value Focus- Cooperation

III. PROCEDURE

A. Review
* Say- Enumerate the kinds of notes that we have studied.
* Ask-What is the value of a whole note?
A half note? A quarter note?
* Ask-What bodily movements can we associate with the different kinds of notes?

B. Learning Experiences

1. Motivation
* Let the children listen to recorded songs and let them observe.
* Ask-what have you observed with the song I have played?

2. Presentation
* Say- today we are going to listen to the song entitled “Kundiman” to be played by the cassette recorder. Listen carefully.
* Divide the class into 2 groups. Let the groups do the following
Group 1- sin the song while using the tambourines and sticks as accompaniment
Group 2- sing the song while clapping and stamping the feet.
* Day- As I repeat the song, I want you to sing with me and accompany it with your improvised instruments and observe.
* After singing, let the pupils take their seats.


3. Discussion
* Ask- what have you observed while singing?
* Ask- which part of the song has slow tempo? Which part o the song has a moderate tempo? Which part of the song has fast tempo?

4. Generalization
* Ask- What have you learned from our lesson today?
* Ask two or three pupils the same question and gather their answers.
* Ask- What is a tempo?
* Tempo is the rate or speed of the music.

5. Application
* Group the class into 3 groups. Let the first group think of a song with slow tempo, the second group with the moderate tempo, and the third group with fast tempo.
* Let each group create a band and let them perform by singing the song they have chosen while accompanying it with improvised instruments (ball pens, sticks, etc.)

IV. EVALUATION

*Say – answer the question in the activity sheet.
Directions: tell whether the following songs have slow, moderate, or fast tempo.
